Stay close to anything that makes you glad you are alive. – Hafez
The Virgo New Moon at 27 degrees Virgo was exact at 10:29pm Pacific on Sept 19 and 1:29am Eastern Sept 20 and provides an opening to initiate the healing of our soul wounds through compassion, alignment of will and a renewed commitment to living our personal truth.
Where have we been irresponsible – with our health, our addictions and our self respect? Where have we compromised our sense of morality or not lived up to living the life we advocate? The New Moon’s T-square with Chiron in Pisces and Saturn in Sagittarius can intensify the karma around our espoused philosophy of life versus our lived reality. It’s time to walk our talk and be the change we want to see in the world, even if we’ve let ourselves down or been disillusioned by life.
As Neptune opposes Mercury, the New Moon ruler, we can feel overwhelmed by larger forces – either in the collective or through the raw power of Mother Nature. The devastating earthquake in Mexico City, the catastrophic hurricane in Puerto Rico and the relentless push in America to destroy public health care affect some of the least developed areas and least fortunate among us. We can feel powerless and take on the suffering of others when we lose ourselves in the Neptunian grief. Chiron, the wounded healer, may enhance the sense of shaming and victimhood. We can’t save everyone, but we need to trust that what we can do matters. The word compassion means ‘to suffer with’ so when we can transform our suffering into compassion we may find a way out of the rip tide and into safer waters.
We may find ourselves trying to explain our intentions, only for us to float further away from clarity. Truth can be slippery but it’s worth pursuing. Discernment requires our conscious intention and informed by our intuition.
A friend and craniosacral therapist recently illuminated me to a concept called the Long Tide which is the deep flow of life force energy which sustains the body. Its life in its purest form and aligns with the archetype of Pisces. When we align with the deep self-sustaining peace that exists within us, we tap into our inner knowing and innate lovingness. Sometimes this at first looks like waiting out the storm, listening for answers and then seeing the unfolding process of life before us. This calm, peaceful patience is a higher expression of the Neptunian influence.
Mercury has left its shadow so the lessons we’ve learned over the past several weeks around self care, self acceptance and taking responsibility for our sacred duties in life now have an opportunity to begin to crystalize and gain traction. The beauty of Virgo is that baby steps are fine, even preferred. Renewing your commitment to your purpose step by step and building up our confidence brick by brick allows a deeper integration to occur. Meaning arises from our conscious action.
