The Libra Full Moon was exact in the early hours this morning (2:08am EST at 21 degrees Libra/Aries) and its alignment triggers the Cardinal Grand Cross of February 26. Libra is most associated with balance, harmony and diplomacy yet the Full Moon’s alignment with Uranus-Jupiter can unsettle attempts at smooth social relations. Uranus is the Great Awakener and it’s opposition with Jupiter rx can expand it’s already startling influence.
Libra is the sign of “the other” so relationships are highlighted as is our ability to smooth conflict and find resolutions. There is as much chance of experiencing an enthusiastic breath of fresh air into relationships as there is to be embroiled in turmoil and chaos. Many people may feel they’ve reached a breaking point in an area of their lives where change is urgently needed.
The Venus retrograde, soon to come to a close April 15, has had us reflecting on how we get along with others and play nicely – or not. If we find ourselves having to move fast on our feet and light on our toes around unexpected shifting sands (and with Mercury retrograde this can involves those annoying technical glitches or communication misfires) we can look to the lessons of Venus to find new ways of moving through relationship riptides.
Intensifying the Grand Cross is the unstoppable force of Pluto in Capricorn opposite Vesta in Cancer bringing deep transformation into our sacred duty and sense of belonging. These forces operating underneath the surface drama are the deep current telling us that while we may visit we can never truly return home again and that our purpose lies in surrendering to the metamorphosis.
Venus retrograde is the ruler of the Full Moon and she is joined with the soul healer Chiron in her sign of exaltation Pisces calling for compassion to heal the wounds of the collective. The square to Saturn retrograde in Sagittarius on the Galactic Center is laying the karmic responsibility of humanity deep in our own hearts giving us the inner knowing that peace begins within.
The Sabian symbol for this Libra Full Moon is “a child giving birds a drink at a fountain” translated by Dane Rudhyar as “The concern of simple souls for the welfare and happiness of less evolved beings who thirst for life renewal.” Such a beautiful reminder that the innocence within us has the power to renew the spirit of others.
