TAURUS LUNAR ECLIPSE
Craving Security
Friday, November 19
12:57 AM PST / 3:57 AM EST
27 degrees Taurus / Scorpio
Taurus Lunar Eclipse Themes:
extravagances or anxieties around money and security,
craving stability, sudden rebelliousness, striving for dominance,
passionate emotional expression, releasing stuck patterns.
Insight:
"My cravings for security can be found in my Soul's desires for oneness.
Whatever I give with generosity, I receive with gratitude."
Friday's early morning Full Moon is a Lunar Eclipse in Taurus, the sign most associated with the desire for stability, survival, self-sufficiency, and materialism. Lunar Eclipses are conjoined to the Lunar Nodes of Destiny, creating a cosmic re-alignment that can seem especially fated and impactful.
Often, what is stuck can become dislodged in areas of the Moon, such as emotional attachments, home, family, women or what we've become dependent upon. Lunar Eclipses are often a time to evolve beyond what we cling to for security.
While the Lunar Nodes are still in Gemini/Sagittarius, this lunation is the first in a series of eclipses to activate the Taurus/Scorpio axis that will continue through 2023. This shift will emphasize the desire for tactile pleasures and material security (Taurus) along with the urge to transform beyond the material and risk safety for the great mysteries of the unknown (Scorpio).
At the Lunar Eclipse, the Moon is conjunct the North Node, symbolic of amplification and hunger, and as the Moon is exalted in Taurus, cravings for materialism and emotional security are especially heightened.
The Lunar Eclipse activates the fixed star Algol, associated with the Medusa mythology. Her gaze was so powerful as to turn men to stone, and the only way she could be defeated was via decapitation. Algol, therefore, is associated metaphorically with 'losing one's head,' sometimes through intense passionate emotion or extreme indulgences.
Just before becoming exact, the eclipse squares Jupiter in Aquarius and trines Pluto in Capricorn. A square to Jupiter suggests exaggeration or over-the-top generosity. In the sign of Aquarius, this is most likely in areas that affect groups or ideas. The trine to Pluto in Capricorn points to the empowered determination to push past our limitations or claim our dominance.
The Mars-Uranus opposition is still reverberating, triggering sudden breakthroughs and impulsiveness. It can be hard to pin anything down, as the energy for detachment, rebellion and liberation is strong.
