Happy New Year!

Yes, it’s February and 2016 ‘technically’ started last month, but many of us feel as though we’re catching up for lost time following an especially challenging Mercury retrograde in January. Fortunately, the New Moon in Aquarius can sense like a fresh, new beginning of opportunity and potential.

The February 8 New Moon coincides with the Chinese New Year, kicking off the Year of the Fire Monkey. The Fire Monkey bears gifts of exuberance, originality and promises success when one dares to be different.

These themes are echoed in the Aquarius New Moon that invites us to express our eccentricity in all it’s glory. We may struggle with notions of conventional wisdom in an effort to access the liminal space where the true jewels are found and perhaps even imagine a utopian existence.

The 2nd decan of Aquarius builds bridges between the exile and the citizens, heaven and Earth as described by Austin Coppock in “36 Faces.” He goes on to describe the Moon here as independent and rootless.  One’s mind and philosophy is enhanced, yet there shows a need to integrate the mind with the heart for a truly holistic experience of wisdom integration.

The co-rulers of this New Moon – Uranus and Saturn, both in fire signs – are in a flowing trine aspect, providing an undercurrent of enthusiasm and zeal. Both are in supporting sextiles to this New Moon indicating that progress is within our grasp, so long as we commit to the discipline required of us and adjust to any unexpected shifts along the way.

Venus in Capricorn will have recently passed through the Uranus-Pluto square, suggesting the relationships left standing will be strengthened and transformed. Cooperation is key now, so inviting others into the fold of your grand vision – one that benefits all – will be the perfect ingredient to ignite your next adventure.

The Sabian Symbol for 19 degrees Aquarius is “A Large White Dove Bearing a Message.”

Dane Rudhyar translates this as a blessed “secret prophesy of what is yet to come”, suggesting a courageous and transformational journey and a sense of victory. At the heart of every victory, the Divine is present and whispers the sacred message of:

“Mission accomplished. Peace be with you.”
